On October 30th, the grand World Food Festival was celebrated on the main avenue of GDUFS, attracting thousands of students with more surging towards it. All the delicious foods there were served by foreign students from over 30 different countries.

As soon as the opening ceremony was over, African and South American students were the first to set fire to the festival, dancing to the music rhythmically and passionately in a circle, shaking their bodies and laughing. Their enthusiastic dance was so contagious that many people slowed down their pace and videotaped it with mobile phones. Those foreign students even dragged people beside them into their dance circle to join them!

The food was various and flavorful. Students swarmed to every stand with great eagerness to try the exotic foods. The taste of the foods, the special plate-decorations and even some exotic ingredients sparked people's interest; therefore, some of them would choose to talk with those foreign students about the food itself. The manager of the Madagascar Stand was very hospitable and talkative, in spite of the language barrier. He showed others the unique foods from his homeland: distinctive meat balls and a vegetable salad. Korean students told curious people that the stuffing of their popular rice roll is made of sweet potatoes, cucumber, egg and other ingredients. Other foreign students displayed and served the representative cuisines of their countries as well.

The ways that each stand drew people's attention were particular and amusing. A charming Japanese boy dressed in traditional kimono. Russians utilized a Russian nesting doll as the highlight of their stand. The Spanish gave passers-by a kiss. Others danced and sang happily. The lively atmosphere flowed all-around.

"What kind of Chinese food would you prepare for such kind of food festival if you had a stand?" "Spicy hot pot!" was the almost universal response. It was one of the most interesting answers from the Chinese students. Smiley faces told that almost everyone enjoyed the special festival! A Chinese girl highly praised it because it showed a kind of multicultural perspective.
