Que sera sera

When I was just a little girl,

I asked my mother, "What will I be?

Will I be pretty? Will I be rich?"

Here's what she said to me:

"Que sera, sera,

Whatever will be, will be;

The future's not ours to see.

Que sera, sera, What will be, will be."

Doris Day's album

Que sera,sera, means "Whatever will be, will be" in Spanish, and was sung by Doris Day and was the interlude of Alfred Hitchcock's film The Men Who Knew Too Much. The song expressed people's wishes for natural development and their positive attitude towards the future,which made it popular with people at that time.

Now, the song  is a hit again. It was set in a recent Chinese film, The Continent, which was directed by Han Han, a famous post-80's writer and director. I watched the movie and fell in love with the song.

The Continent

"Que sera, sera." My mother used to tell me, when I told her I failed the exams and that I felt really upset. She never put too much pressure on me but she would comfort and encourage me. She told me to stay calm and never mind the scores or grades, and that little failure doesn't matter on the path towards great success. Her words dispersed the clouds in my mind and cleared my fears about the future. I appreciate my mother greatly for she gave me a good lead.

I think I should make it my motto---Que sera,sera. Whenever I am anxious to finish something, I always find it hard to do it well. By contrast, when I slow down and finish it carefully, things can be done perfectly. Waking up in the morning, if you think of how busy it will be then you will just be busy; but if you imagine how pretty the sun is and how lovely your little pot is, then you can have a good time. Que sera,sera, in other words, we'd better enjoy the moment and stop worrying about the future, because we cannot predict what will happen next and whatever will be, will be.

We are living in a world full of risks. Recently, earthquakes, terrorism, viruses and more, have continuously threatened people's lives .We sense a great horror that these disasters may strike us by surprise. However, we cannot change anything. So why not enjoy the moment? We should cherish every minute as no one knows when he or she will come to the end of life. Whatever is going to happen will happen but we can enjoy ourselves now, this moment. Que sera, sera.
