University of Queensland Delegation Visits GDUFS

On the morning of September 15, Rongyu Li, Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Vice-President (Global Engagement) at the University of Queensland (UQ) led a delegation to visit Guangdong University of Foreign Studies (GDUFS). Vice President Shen Minghao welcomed the guests in the VIP Hall of the Administration Building on the Baiyun Mountain Campus. The two sides held in-depth discussions on strengthening international cooperation in education and expanding joint training programs.

Vice President Shen extended a warm welcome to the delegation and introduced the university’s academic development and achievements. He noted that GDUFS currently offers 33 foreign language programs, with particular strengths in Foreign Language and Literature, Economics, and Law. The university has established partnerships with 518 universities and institutions across 67 countries. He emphasized the long-standing collaboration between GDUFS and UQ, highlighting well-established programs, frequent exchanges, and strong potential for further collaboration. Shen expressed hope for further practical cooperation in joint academic programs and research translation, thereby advancing educational, scientific, and cultural exchanges between China and Australia.

Deputy Vice-Chancellor Rongyu Li commended the outstanding performance of GDUFS students at UQ. He highlighted UQ as one of Australia’s leading research universities, with strengths in research translation, innovation, and entrepreneurship. He noted that UQ attaches great importance to its partnership with GDUFS and looks forward to further cooperation in joint education programs, faculty exchanges, research collaboration, and the commercialization of scientific and technological achievements.

Highlight from the Meeting

Representatives from the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange and the Office for Chairmen and Presidents were also present at the meeting.

The UQ delegation also visited the International College and engaged in friendly exchanges with faculty and students of the joint programs.
