University of Warwick Delegation Visits GDUFS

On the afternoon of September 16, Professor Nina-Anne Lawrence, the Head of Department and Director of Warwick Foundation Studies at the University of Warwick, led a delegation to visit Guangdong University of Foreign Studies (GDUFS). Vice President Shen Minghao welcomed the guests in the VIP Hall of the Administration Building on the Baiyun Mountain Campus. The two sides held in-depth discussions on cooperation projects and other areas of mutual interest.

Highlight from the Meeting

Shen Minghao extended a warm welcome to the delegation and gave a detailed overview of GDUFS’s achievements in discipline development and internationalization. He noted that GDUFS distinguished itself by ranking 90th worldwide for international collaboration in the U.S. News Best Global Universities Rankings. Shen expressed hope for substantive cooperation with Warwick in faculty and student exchanges, joint research, and undergraduate joint training models such as “3+1” and “4+0.” He emphasized that current favorable policies and the growing demand for international education create broad opportunities for collaboration. He called on both universities to seize these opportunities, deepen their partnership, and jointly cultivate high-quality international talent, thereby advancing deeper and broader China-UK people-to-people exchanges.

Nina-Anne Lawrence thanked GDUFS for the warm reception and congratulated both universities as they celebrate their 60th anniversaries. She stressed Warwick’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with GDUFS, expressing hope to expand undergraduate foundation and joint training programs, beginning with summer programs. She expressed confidence that the partnership will yield fruitful results and enhance both universities’ international presence.
