University of Maryland Delegation Visits GDUFS

On the morning of September 8, Michael Goodhart, Director of the Executive and Cohort Programs at the School of Public Policy, University of Maryland (UMD), led a delegation to visit Guangdong University of Foreign Studies (GDUFS). Vice President Shen Minghao welcomed the guests in the VIP Hall of the Administration Building on the Baiyun Mountain Campus. The two sides discussed potential areas of collaboration.

Meeting Scene

Vice President Shen warmly welcomed the delegation and outlined the university’s history and achievements. He highlighted GDUFS’s strong international focus, noting that through the PRIME Program, the university has built partnerships with 518 universities and institutions worldwide. Shen emphasized the long-standing cooperation between GDUFS and UMD, dating back to the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) in 2015. Their joint Master’s Program in International Governance Innovation has achieved remarkable success, producing many graduates who now serve in international organizations and institutions. Shen underscored the importance GDUFS places on this partnership and expressed his confidence in further strengthening China-U.S. higher education cooperation and cultural exchange.

Michael Goodhart expressed his gratitude for the warm reception and congratulated GDUFS on its 60th anniversary. He reflected on the fruitful outcomes of past collaborations and affirmed his commitment to advancing international cooperation, with a focus on fostering exchanges and partnerships with Chinese universities. He praised GDUFS’s achievements and looked forward to expanding cooperation in various fields to further enhance cultural and academic ties between China and the United States.
