Deputy Pro-Vice-Chancellor of the University of Warwick Visits GDUFS

On September 1, Professor Sai Gu, FREng, Deputy Pro-Vice-Chancellor of the University of Warwick, visited Guangdong University of Foreign Studies (GDUFS). Vice President Shen Minghao welcomed Professor Gu at the Baiyun Mountain Campus, and the two sides exchanged views on cultural exchange and talent development.

Highlight from the Meeting

Shen Minghao introduced GDUFS, noting that the university offers 33 foreign language programs, the largest number in South China, and is nationally ranked among the top in linguistics, foreign languages and literature, and translation studies. He expressed hope for in-depth cooperation with the University of Warwick in areas such as student exchange and academic collaboration, working together to advance educational development.

Professor Gu introduced the University of Warwick, highlighting its strong programs in media, economics, and other fields that closely match several disciplines at GDUFS. He expressed hope that the two sides could deepen mutual understanding and steadily advance cooperation in multiple areas, beginning with student exchanges.

In addition, the two sides discussed potential areas of cooperation, feasibility, and approaches to implementation, including short-term study programs in summer and winter, joint programs and collaborative training at the undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral levels, as well as student exchange programs. This meeting laid a solid foundation for further cooperation between GDUFS and the University of Warwick, and both sides will continue discussions to advance the implementation of cooperative initiatives.

Representatives from the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange, the Faculty of English Language and Culture, the School of Journalism and Communication, and the School of International Governance Innovation also participated in the meeting.
