On the afternoon of April 1, a delegation from the University of Warwick, UK, led by Executive Vice President and Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering, Professor Sai Gu, visited GDUFS. President Yan Xiangbin received the guests at the VIP Hall of the Administration Building of the Baiyun Mountain Campus. The two sides discussed educational collaboration, talent cultivation, and cultural exchange.

Highlights from the Meeting
President Yan welcomed Professor Sai Gu’s first visit and introduced GDUFS’s history, educational philosophy, and international characteristics. He noted that GDUFS is an important base in South China for international talent cultivation,studies of foreign languages and cultures, global economic governance, foreign-related rule of law, and international dissemination of Chinese culture. As one of China’s top three foreign language universities, GDUFS ranks 43rd among liberal arts institutions nationwide. With 33 language programs, the most in South China, the university has demonstrated significant influence in talent development, cultural exchange, and social services. Through its PRIME Program for international cooperation, GDUFS has established partnerships with 511 universities and research institutions in 66 countries, including 48 UK institutions such as the University of Oxford and the University of Cambridge. President Yan expressed hope for future collaboration with the University of Warwick in faculty development, joint degree programs, academic research, and cultivating globally minded professionals with cross-cultural competence.
Professor Sai Gu lauded GDUFS’s accomplishments in international education. As a leading UK research-intensive university, the University of Warwick is eager to strengthen ties with GDUFS by leveraging mutual strengths in linguistics, law, and economics to explore diversified cooperation and advance both institutions’ global engagement.
Representatives from the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange, the Academic Programmes Division, the School of Business, and the International College attended the meeting.
