On the morning of March 20, a delegation from higher education institutions in Lyon, France, led by Franck Violet, Vice President of Lyon Catholic University, and representatives from Nouvel Institut Franco-Chinois, visited GDUFS. Vice President Shen Minghao received the guests at the VIP Hall of the Administration Building of the Baiyun Mountain Campus, where both sides exchanged views on educational and cultural collaboration.

Highlights from the Meeting
Vice President Shen provided an overview of GDUFS’s history, distinctive strengths, achievements in the development of the School of Marxism and French language education, and cooperation with French institutions. He noted that GDUFS offers 33 foreign languages, the most in South China, with its French program recognized as a national first-class undergraduate program. The School of Marxism, renowned for its “discipline + foreign language” talent cultivation model, is among the first key Marxist schools in Guangdong Province. GDUFS has established partnerships with 511 universities and institutions across 66 countries, including 23 French universities. Vice President Shen expressed a desire to further Sino-French collaboration under the framework of China-Europe cooperation, leveraging complementary academic strengths to cultivate globally competent talent and inject sustainable momentum into bilateral cultural exchanges.
Mr. Franck Violet commended GDUFS’s excellence in foreign language education, particularly its French program. He proposed expanding collaboration in law, linguistics, economics, and European studies to advance educational ties between France and China, laying a robust foundation for economic cooperation and cultural exchange.
