GDUFS Makes Its Debut in the U.S. News Best Global Universities Rankings

Recently, U.S. News released its 2024-2025 Best Global Universities Rankings, in which Guangdong University of Foreign Studies (GDUFS) made its debut. The university excelled in a set of widely accepted indicators, ranking #110 for the percentage of highly cited papers that are among the top 1% most cited and #226 for the percentage of total publications that are among the 10% most cited. GDUFS is ranked #996 in Best Global Universities, #318 in Best Global Universities in Asia, and #132 in Best Global Universities in China, making it the only university of its type to be included in the rankings.

Additionally, U.S. News published rankings for specific academic fields. Three of GDUFS’s subjects were recognized: Arts and Humanities (ranked #215 globally and #7 nationally out of 250 global institutions), Economics and Business (ranked #323 globally and #39 nationally out of 400 global institutions), and Social Sciences and Public Health (ranked #609 globally and #55 nationally out of 750 global institutions).

The U.S. News Best Global Universities Rankings, along with QS World University Rankings, THE World University Rankings, and the Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU), are considered among the four most authoritative global academic rankings. Regularly published by U.S. News & World Report, these rankings have become an important reference for international students choosing study destinations, universities seeking collaboration, and governments formulating education policies.

The U.S. News Rankings cover 51 subject areas and evaluate 13 indicators, including global research reputation, regional research reputation, publications, and more.
