On the morning of March 29th, Ambassador of Pakistan to China Khalil Hashmi led a delegation to visit GDUFS. They received a warm welcome from Vice President Jiao Fangtai at the VIP Lounge of the Administration Building on the Baiyun Mountain Campus. The discussions centered around talent cultivation and educational cooperation between the two nations.
Vice President Jiao Fangtai extended heartfelt greetings to the delegation led by Ambassador Khali, offering a comprehensive overview of our university’s academic history, distinctive features, and the progress of our Urdu language program. He highlighted GDUFS’s longstanding commitment to nurturing outstanding talents with international perspectives, emphasizing the vibrant international character and diverse language offerings. The Urdu language program stands out as a highlight, showcasing significant achievements in education, teaching, and disciplinary development in recent years. Notably, GDUFS has pioneered a bilingual teaching approach, integrating Urdu and English to foster proficiency in both languages. Additionally, GDUFS encouraged student participation in international exchange activities, facilitating study programs in Pakistan through inter-university cooperation projects to broaden students’ global perspectives and enhance their cross-cultural communication skills. Jiao emphasized that collaboration with Pakistani universities is an integral part of the university’s internationalization strategies. Given the longstanding history of friendly cooperation between China and Pakistan, he hoped that with the support of the Pakistani Embassy in China, GDUFS could deepen cooperation with renowned Pakistani universities in various fields, jointly promoting educational and cultural exchanges between China and Pakistan and making greater contributions to the friendly relations between the two countries.

Ambassador Khalil Hashmi expressed sincere appreciation for the warm reception and commended our university’s excellence in foreign language education, particularly in Urdu. He underscored that Pakistan and China are natural partners, and language is a pivotal bridge connecting the two nations. Ambassador Hashmi expressed eagerness for enhanced collaboration between Pakistani universities and GDUFS to jointly cultivate talents proficient in both Urdu and Chinese, thereby enriching educational and cultural exchanges. He also anticipated future cooperation in faculty exchanges and academic research, aiming to foster educational prosperity in both Pakistan and China.

After the meeting, Ambassador Khalil Hashmi and his delegation engaged in discussions with students and faculty members from the Urdu language program at the Faculty of Asian and African Studies. Both sides explored paths for collaboration in language, culture, and education. Urdu majors showcased their understandings of Pakistani culture through choir performances and poetry recitations, deepening mutual understanding and friendship between China and Pakistan. This exchange serves as a robust bridge for fostering friendly cooperation between the two countries in the new era.
