Delegation from University of Portsmouth of the UK Visits Guangdong University of Foreign Studies

On the morning of October 27, Anne Murphy, Vice President of the University of Portsmouth (UP), and her delegation visited Guangdong University of Foreign Studies (GDUFS). Vice President Jiao Fangtai met with the guests in the VIP room of the administration building of Baiyunshan Campus. The two sides exchanged views on joint student training, deepening inter-school cooperation, and other matters.

Jiao Fangtai welcomed Anne Murphy and her delegation and gave a detailed introduction to the geographical advantages, history, and operation characteristics of GDUFS. He said that GDUFS and UP share a long history of cooperation and a solid foundation for cooperation. At present, both universities have carried out in-depth cooperation in related majors of multiple schools and jointly built 2+2 study abroad training and other programs for overseas study training. In May 2023, both universities signed a ten-year effective cooperation agreement. He especially thanked UP for its support and concern for the internationalization talent training of GDUFS and expressed his heartfelt congratulations to UP for achievements in talent training in recent years. He emphasized that GDUFS attaches great importance to its cooperative relationship with UP. It is hoped that in the future the two universities will continue to strengthen communication in terms of student exchanges and operation cooperation, further tap cooperation potential and fields, strengthen joint efforts in emerging cutting-edge disciplines, promote innovation in talent training models, and make new achievements.

Anne Murphy expressed her gratitude to GDUFS and introduced the disciplines of UP. She said that in recent years, GDUFS has continued to send students to UP for exchange and study. These students have become important members of the international student community at UP and were highly praised for their outstanding performance. She emphasized that she hoped the two universities would further develop friendly cooperation in the future, have close communication on student and teacher exchanges, cooperative research, and others, and build a multi-level and multi-faceted communication platform for the cooperation and development of both sides to achieve high-quality development of education.
