Yan Xiangbin Meets with the Delegation of the Consulate General of Republic of Italy in Guangzhou

On the morning of October 17, Valerio De Parolis, Consul General of the Consulate General of Italy in Guangzhou, visited GDUFS. Yan Xiangbin, President of GDUFS, met with the guests in the VIP hall of the administrative building of Baiyunshan Campus. The two sides exchanged views on strengthening cultural exchanges and establishing friendly cooperative relationships.

Yan Xiangbin introduced the operation situation of GDUFS to the delegation. He said that GDUFS is a high-level university with distinctive internationalization characteristics and an important base for internationalization talent training, foreign languages and literature, global economics governance, foreign-related legal research, and internationalized dissemination of Chinese culture in South China. The Italian major of GDUFS is the first major of the less commonly taught European languages in Guangdong Province and a first-class undergraduate major construction site at the national and provincial levels. Meanwhile, it is also the only Italian undergraduate and graduate teaching unit and the executive member of the National Italian Teaching Research Association in South China. At the same time, GDUFS has established friendly cooperative relations with many overseas universities and institutions to promote student exchange, faculty cooperation, and the construction of overseas internship bases. Yan said that since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Italy, the two countries have shared a smooth development in friendly cooperative relations in various fields. In the future, we hope that with the support of the Consulate General of Italy in Guangzhou, we can further deepen the cooperation and exchanges between GDUFS and Italian universities and institutions, to promote friendly exchanges.

Valerio De Parolis spoke highly of GDUFS’s achievements in the training of Italian language talents. He said that Italy and China are both ancient civilizations and share a common concern for the inheritance of traditional values. Cultural exchanges between the two countries have promoted the development of Chinese and Western cultures. University is an important part of bilateral relations. He expressed his gratitude for our GDUFS’s contribution to promoting Sino-Italian education cooperation and exchanges. He pointed out that with the strong support of GDUFS, great achievements have been made in a series of activities such as the Italian Language Week and the training of Italian language talents. He looks forward to continuing to deepen cooperation with GDUFS in the future to jointly promote the development of education and make new progress in mutual learning of human civilization.
