Delegation of the University of Portsmouth Visits GDUFS

North Campus, Guangdong University of Foreign Studies, May 29^th, 2023: Led by its vice president, Chris Chang, the delegation of the University of Portsmouth visited GDUFS’s north campus on the afternoon of May 29^th, 2023.

They were warmly greeted by Jiao Fangtai, Vice President of GDUFS, at the VIP Guest Room of the Executive Building. Both sides exchanged ideas on talents cultivation and further inter-university cooperation.

The Meating Site

Jiao Fangtai welcomed the delegation’s coming to GDUFS and introduced them to the university’s characteristics and its cultivation mode of international talents. He pointed out that the two universities have a long history of wide-ranging cooperation and enduring friendship. So far, GDUFS has built cooperative relationships on relevant majors in Portsmouth, and carried out projects like the “2+2” study abroad training, and has sent 160 students to Portsmouth to study in over five years. Jiao Fangtai also expressed his hope for further cooperation between the two sides on the base of their solid friendship. Moreover, he said that he looks forward to starting a new journey of inter-university cooperation by strengthening the joint construction of emerging disciplines and promoting the international exchange of students and faculty.

Chris Chang praised the achievements of GDUFS's internationalization construction and gave a brief introduction of Portsmouth and the advantage of its disciplines. He hopes that the two sides will tap their potential for mutual cooperation, utilizing their profound friendship and past cooperative experience as the cornerstone, and build a multi-level, all-round exchange and cooperation mechanism to promote the development of the two universities

Officials of the International Office and the International College of GDUFS attended the meeting. After the meeting, the officials of the International College and the representative of the University of Portsmouth had an in-depth exchange on cooperation matters.
