The Delegation of European diplomats Visited GDUFS

Baiyun Mountain Campus, Guangdong University of Foreign Studies, May 31, 2023: On May 15, a delegation of European diplomats composed of officials from the embassies of Albania, North Macedonia, Switzerland, Hungary, and other countries visited GDUFS. Liu Yibo, Director of the International Cooperation Department of the China Education Association for International Exchange, and Zhou Guoping, Deputy Director of the Education Department of Guangdong Province, attended the event. Jiao Fangtai, Vice President of GDUFS, met with the guests in the VIP lounge of the administrative building on Baiyun Mountain campus.

Jiao Fangtai introduced the history and development of the educational situation and cooperative exchange with universities in European countries to the guests. He pointed out that GDUFS has distinctive international characteristics and has established cooperative exchange relations with 488 universities, and academic and cultural institutions in 60 countries and regions. Currently, with 28 foreign languages available, the university is the only one in South China that boasts the greatest variety of foreign language programs, which has laid the foundation for nurturing students who are excellent both ethically and in their academic achievement, strong in cross-cultural communication and hands-on creativity, and with a deep love of their country.


Students’ performance

The delegation of European diplomats visited the History Museum of GDUFS, with its simultaneous interpretation laboratory and library. In the history museum, the narrator introduced the university’s origin, international characteristics, social services, and outstanding teachers and students. Simultaneously, the student association put on a diverse performance including musical instruments, dances, martial arts, and multilingual choruses. This fully displayed the passion and charm of the youth, allowing guests to appreciate Chinese culture in a rich atmosphere and advancing cultural exchange between China and Europe to a new level.

In the simultaneous interpretation laboratory, Wang Weiwei, vice-president of the School of Interpreting and Translation Studies, introduced the technology and operation of the conference room to the guests, and invited the guests to experience the effect of the conference together, which was unanimously acclaimed by the guests. The diplomats visited the foreign books stack room and boutique room of the library. Ms. Cai Chunliu introduced the collection and the functions of the equipment for the delegation. Zhou Peng, Minister of International Exchange and Cooperation, attended the activities.
