The Delegation of Russian Consulate General in Guangzhou Visits GDUFS

Baiyun Mountain Campus, Guangdong University of Foreign Studies, May 26, 2023: On the afternoon of May 25^th, Chernousov Alexander (Черноусов Александр Эдуардович), the Consul General of the Russian Consulate General in Guangzhou, with his delegation, visited our school and presented at the opening ceremony of our twelfth “Russian Language Day”. Jiao Fangtai, Vice President of the University, met distinguished guests in the VIP Hall of the Administration Building of the Baiyunshan Campus. The two sides exchanged views on discipline development and cultural exchange.

Jiao Fangtai warmly welcomed the arrival of the Chernousov Alexander’s delegation. In the meantime, he introduced the history and the characteristics of our school as well as the construction and development situation of Russian Major. According to Jiao’s introduction, the Russian Major is one of the earliest majors which launched the international exchange programs with schools abroad. In recent years, the approach and scale of international exchange has continuously expanded. At present, the university has set up a "Russian Language Center" and "Russian Research Center," and established cooperative relations with many well-known Russian universities and institutions, among which a Confucius Institute has been established in cooperation with Ural Federal University. Jiao pointed out that friendship between China and Russia will last forever and bilateral cooperation between the two in a state of growing prosperity. In the future, it is hoped that the Russian Consulate General in Guangzhou will continue to give strong support to the school, with a view to promoting exchange and cooperation with Russian universities or related institutions in various fields, and contributing to the development of China-Russia comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership in the new era.

Chernousov Alexander expressed his gratitude towards GDUFS’ welcome and offered a high appraisal of the achievements of the school’s international aspects. He mentioned that the consulate has attached high importance to the spread of the Russian language and cultures in Lingnan area and offered thanks for our contributions in the cultivation of Russian talents. He also hoped that we can persistently build up a bridge of friendly exchange and communication, jointly promote China-Russia educational cooperation to a new level, and make contributions to China-Russia friendship.

Related directors of the International Exchange Cooperative Department and Russian Language Center attended this meeting. After the meeting, the Consul General and other officials from the Russian Language Center of the Ministry of International Exchange and Cooperation went to the library to participate in Russian Language Day.
