Baiyun Mountain Campus, Guangdong University of Foreign Studies, October 18th 2022: This year is the 15th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and Costa Rica. Over the past fifteen years, the relationship between China and Costa Rica has grown closer. Meanwhile, exchanges between the youths of the two countries have been continually strengthened. Recently, Guo Yun’ao, a 2019 student majoring in Spanish from the Faculty of European Languages and Cultures of GDUFS, participated in the recording of China-Costa Rica Youth Forum, a cloud dialogue program launched by China Media Group CGTN and Channel 13 of Costa Rica National Radio and Television Station.

In the forum, Guo Yun’ao talked about the cultural similarities between China and Costa Rica. For instance, in some typical dishes in Costa Rica, rice is served with soybeans and other elements that have characteristic features of Chinese food. In terms of the cultural differences between the two countries, Guo pointed that Costa Rica is renowned for Caribbean music, which is lively and energetic, reflecting the hospitality of the Costa Rican people. Chinese music, represented by its folk music, highlights the harmonious beauty of music, giving people a sense of inner peace like being immersed in towering mountains and flowing streams. Speaking of the experience of participating in this activity, he said that as the youth of new era, he should insist on carrying forward the spirit of hard struggle, strive to learn professional knowledge, master his skills and actively contribute his strength and wisdom to realize the Chinese Dream of national rejuvenation.
