President Zhong Visited the Director of Confucius Institute Headquarters

Feb.21st--President Zhong Weihe visited DirectorXu Lin of the Confucius Institute Headquarters in Beijing on February 21st. He was accompanied by the Director of the International Relations Division of GDUFS.  President Zhong spoke with Director Xu about the current situation at the Confucius Institute which was established by GDUFS as well as some information about GDUFS' academic connections with the City College of New York (CCNY).

President Zhong centered on four aspects of Confucius Institute, namely, 1) the daily operation of the Institute; 2) its expenditure usage; 3) its presidential election; and 4) its enhancement of cooperation.  Within several years, GDUFS has taken an active part in cooperating with other overseas universities and has successively set up three Confucius Institutes in Japan, Peru, and Russia.

These established Institutes carry their respective advantages forward by developing various cultural activities and newly coined teaching methods that differ one from another as a result.

All the achievements are gradually becoming indispensable components of urban culture in these cities.

Having known the situation about those three established Institutes, Director Xu delightfully expressed that as a prestigious university featured by internationalization and located in the advancing front of China, GDUFS is bound to undertake more responsibilities in the endeavor of spreading Chinese traditional and culture. She is in favor of our efforts to set up a Confucius Class in CCNY and stated that augmenting its size into a institute is also highly recommended.

Director Xu showed keen interest in CCNY 's project, particularly the Chinese teacher qualification course and the training of Chinese teachers for schools. Director Xu also suggested implementing  distinguishing items of the Institutes in the future. With regard to this, President Zhong promises that every step will be carefully implemented to ensure the establishment of this new Confucius Institute.
