GDUFS Delegates Attend the 8th Confucius Institute Conference

On December 7th and 8th, The Eighth Confucius Institute Conference was held in Beijing, with over 2,000 headmasters from 120 countries and regions and official representatives from The Confucius Institute present. Vice President XU GuoBin, of GDUFS,and delegates from three GDUFS overseas Confucius Institutes, attended the conference.

The conference was hosted by YUAN GuiRen, Secretary of Education and Vice President of Confucius Institute from the Institute headquarters, and LIU Yan Dong, Vice President of the State Council and President of the Confucius Institute, each presented remarks focused on how to advance the development of Confucius Institutes and establish a new chapter of Sino- foreign culture communications.

 

Additionally, other representatives presented statements advocating advancement and development for specific programs. Too, individuals of the Institute were awarded honors by LIU.

 

During the conference, participants discussed various issues with writer MO Yan presenting an excellent closing speech. Too, XU Lin, Head of the Board of the Hanban presenting the concluding remarks.

 

It's reported that 440 Confucius Institutes and 646 Confucius courses have been established in 120 countries and regions of the five continents. With the Confucius Institute expanding so rapidly, and increases in Sino/foreign communications, the annual Confucius Institute Conferences aim to exchange experiences on running a school and discussing how to better develop the Confucius Institute.

 

 

 

GDUFS Delegates from overseas Confucius Institutes

 

During the headmaster forum on "Sino/foreign translation works" held on Dec.8th, XU presented three pieces of advice on Sino/foreign translation publishing and on strengthening international cultural communications. What's more, he introduced two books; namely The Essence of Chinese Culture and The Essence of Western Culture, written by GDUFS leading teachers. XU has also exchanged ideas with the head of the related department from the Board of the Hanban on the development of GDUFS overseas Confucius Institute program opportunities.

 

JIAO FangTai, head of the Department of International Cooperation and Exchange and XIE WeiGuang, Secretary of the Three Secretary General position, all attended activities related to their responsibilities.
