On March 19th, Mr. Stephen Rowley, Vice President of the University of Artois, in France, and JIN Siyan, Dean of the Confucius Institute visited GDUFS. XU Guobin, Vice President of GDUFS, accompanied by ZHENG Lihua, Dean of the Faculty of European Languages and Culture, provided a warm reception.

During the in-depth conversation, V.P. XU introduced GDUFS, including information about our universities' teaching levels, the students, the major subject areas of study, the research areas of our different faculties and, as well, the international exchange and cooperation programs currently underway. Dr. XU expressed his hopes to establish a close relation with the University of Artois through mutual visits and the exchange of students and teachers over the coming years. He also expressed the idea that he looks forward to more chances for collaboration in additional areas.

In exchange key points about the University of Artois were presented. According to Artois VP, Stephen Rowley, there are more than eleven thousand students in the University of Artois and about 10% of them (900 of them) are foreign students. He expressed his hope that more and more overseas students, especially Chinese, could get their further education there. And, for the students who were learning Chinese at Artois (more than 200), it was pointed out that it would be a wonderful experience to be an exchange student in China especially at GDUFS. Too, Dr. Rowley expressed his wish for more cooperation in terms of French language study, both in China and France, and other subject areas as well. As an example he said that, if cross-cultural management, one of the strongest majors at Artois, were taught in English, it would be highly attractive to GDUFS students.
