On the afternoon of April 23rd, a delegation of Russian Youth Statesmen visited our school. The delegates included members of the Russian Youth Public Chamber, Margarita Fedotova, Irina Filatova, and Konstantin Ryabov, the Chief Representative of the Russia-Asia Industry Entrepreneurs Union and LIU Weining. As well, leaders from the Provincial League Committee accompanied the delegation. GDUFS President, ZHONG Weihe and Vice-Secretary of the School's CPC Committee, LU Jinghui, met with the guests in the VIP Lounge. Secretary of the School Youth League Committee, XIE Xiulan and Acting Director of the GDUFS International Office, CAI Hong, also attended the meeting. HU Quan, a postgraduate and Russian Language Major, acted as an interpreter, and presided over the meeting.

President ZHONG Weihe introduced the history and development of the Russian language major at GDUFS, the situation of the Russia Center, which is supported by the Russian government and the achievements of the cooperation between GDUFS and partner universities of Russia. There are many Russian students in our school who have helped in building the bridge between our two countries. ZHONG pointed out that, since the leaders of both countries established the year 2014-2015 as the Sino-Russian Year of Youth Friendly Exchange, the communications between young people has became increasingly significant, because it will contribute to promoting understanding and friendship and to strengthening the cooperative partnership.

Representative Margarita Fedotovamade a brief introduction of the Russian Youth Public Chamber and, too, she raised the point that our two countries lack adequate exchanges, and noted that she hoped that face-to-face communications would be strengthened through the Sino-Russia Year of Youth Friendly Exchanges. Irina Filatova and Konstantin Ryabov talked about the importance of academic exchanges with reference to their professions.
Later, accompanied by the student representatives from the GDUFS Russian language majors, the delegation toured the GDUFS's multilingual service center, the culture plaza and the library. At last, they had conversations summing up the visit in the conference room on the fourth floor of the library.

At the conference, LIU Weining encouraged GDUFS students to go abroad to broaden their vision; Ms Fedotova said she had felt our students' intensive interest in the culture and thinking modes of Russia; Ms Irina Filatova, as a lawyer, emphasized the value of talents who mastered both the languages of China and Russia and had a thorough knowledge of law. Both parties involved discussed the issues of Sino-Russian relationships and economic development, made statements on how an exchange to learn Russian well and also voiced their opinions about Russian films and books. After the conference, the guests expressed their gratitude for the reception and the well-prepared welcome to our school.

Appendix 2: Brief introduction of the Russian Youth Public Chamber
The Russian Youth Public Chamber was founded in 2006, and is a non-governmental social organization (NGOSO) composed of young leaders and outstanding representatives from various fields, such as politics, economics, arts, sports and media. Leaders of the youth organizations for major Russian political parties are all its members. The Youth Public Chamber aims to unite the youth between the ages of 18 and 35 from different classes and sectors, to encourage them to express their views, to influence the implementation of the national youth policies and to carry out various activities serving youth development.
