Highlight from the Meeting
Yan extended a warm welcome to the delegation and introduced the university’s overall profile, international education features, and achievements in Portuguese-related disciplines. He noted that GDUFS is a high-level university with major development support in Guangdong Province, offering 33 foreign language programs, making it the university with the most comprehensive range of foreign language programs in South China. It was also the first university in South China to establish a Portuguese language program, which has been approved as a national-level first-class undergraduate program. At present, GDUFS has established talent cultivation and research cooperation programs with Portuguese-speaking countries including Brazil, Angola and Portugal. He expressed hope that this meeting would serve as an opportunity to further expand practical cooperation with Portuguese-speaking countries in areas such as joint talent cultivation, faculty exchanges and joint research projects, and to cultivate interdisciplinary professionals capable of supporting exchanges and cooperation between China and Portuguese-speaking countries.
The three consuls general expressed gratitude for the warm reception and spoke highly of GDUFS’s efforts in promoting exchanges and cooperation between China and Portuguese-speaking countries. They unanimously stated their willingness to facilitate closer partnerships between universities and research institutions in their respective countries and GDUFS, and to carry out practical cooperation in areas such as joint talent cultivation and collaborative research projects. They also expressed hope that, through joint efforts, the quality of Portuguese-language talent cultivation would be further enhanced and cultural exchanges and mutual learning among civilizations would be promoted between China and Portuguese-speaking countries.
