On May 12, H.E. Mr. NORN Samnangseymony, Chief of Cabinet of Cambodian Senior Minister SOK Siphana, Chief of Secretariat of the Trade Policy Advisory Board and Secretary-General of the Economic Society of Cambodia, led a delegation to visit Guangdong University of Foreign Studies (GDUFS), accompanied by representatives from the Guangzhou Institute of GBA. Professor Shi Youqi, Secretary of the Party Committee of GDUFS, met with the delegation in the Third Conference Room of the Administration Building of the Baiyun Mountain Campus. During the meeting chaired by Chen Ping, Director of Academic Research Division, the two sides held in-depth discussions on key matters including the advancement of educational, cultural, and people-to-people exchanges between China and Cambodia, think tank cooperation, and global and area studies.
On behalf of GDUFS, Professor Shi extended a warm welcome to the delegation, recalled his talks with Sok Siphana during his visit to Cambodia the previous year, and outlined the university’s existing foundation for cooperation with Cambodia. At this new starting point for cooperation, he hoped that the two sides would work together to establish collaborative platforms in key areas and harness the energy of youth from both countries to deepen China-Cambodia cooperation in education and between think tanks, and to jointly contribute to regional development.

H.E. Mr. NORN Samnangseymony thanked GDUFS for the warm reception and commended its notable achievements in internationalized education and the cultivation of Khmer-language talent. He hoped to take this visit as an opportunity to deepen collaboration between the two sides, such as co-hosting think tank forums and facilitating exchanges of young scholars, and to build a China-Cambodia platform for educational cooperation.
