North Campus, Guangdong University of Foreign Studies, October 10th 2019: From September 21st to 30th, LIU Jianda, Vice President of GDUFS, led a delegation to visit Britain, Netherland and Germany. They visited several world-famous universities to develop international communication and strengthen mutual fields of cooperation between these schools.
On September 22, the GDUFS delegation had communications with alumni representatives in Britain, which was organized by Huang Liang, President of the alumni association of GDUFS, in cooperation with other alumni. After knowing the current situation of the alumni association, LIU expressed his gratitude to all overseas alumni for their concern and support of GDUFS. Later he also introduced the new achievements in academic development and construction at GDUFS.

On September 23, the delegation arrived in Coventry, and paid a visit to the representative teachers from GDUFS, who were having an exchange study at Coventry University. During the visit, Liu sent his best wishes to these teachers, hoping they could make progress and achieve academic success during their stay in Britain.

On September 24, the delegation met David Pilsbury, Vice Chancellor of Coventry University in Britain; Heather McLaughlin, Dean of Business and Justice department; JING Yanguo, Vice Dean of Business and Justice department; and Stephen Hardy, Dean of School of Legal Studies separately.

During the meeting, both sites looked back on their historical achievements in delight. Both sides agreed to expand their cooperation in more fields while strengthening the existing depth of cooperation. After a detailed discussion, both sides officially agreed to sign a joint cooperative program for law master students during early October, when David Pilsbury will pay a return visit. In addition, related departments of both sides made a preliminary consensus on developing cooperation in the areas of Economics and Management, Journalism and Communication.
A meeting with Department of Business and Legal Studies of Coventry University
On September 25, the delegation visited Regent's Park College, Oxford. They had a meeting with WANG Shidong, Director of OPGDI, Oxford, and Lynn Robson, Director of Office of academics and the student exchange program. Oxford’s experts thought highly of the excellent exchange students through the cooperation program launched in 2016. Besides, they introduced four related programs of OPGDI, which is about the collaboration among Chinese government universities. LIU expressed his appreciation for OPGDI choosing GDUFS as their partnership, and hoped there will be more GDUFS students gaining the opportunities to visit Oxford for further communication and study. He suggested that both sides can expand further cooperation in advanced forums, workshops of creatively writing, and various academic research areas according to the current programs of OPGDI.

On September 26, the delegation was invited to visit the University Of Applied Sciences Utrecht (HU). They had a meeting with Richard Versmissen, Dean of the School of Creative Business; Hans de Clercq, Dean of School of Communication, and Marjolein, Head of Public Relations. Richard Versmissen and the other representatives introduced HU’s education features in detail with pictures and captions, as well as video materials. They introduced their unique education philosophy and innovation patterns, which intends to foster internationalized application-oriented talents, through a system which combines creative thinking, professional integration and entrepreneurship practice.
LIU also introduced the development history and the major characteristics of GDUFS. He hoped that GDUFS could be the first cooperative universities of HU in China, suggesting a program of in-depth cooperation in the future, including exchange programs, study research cooperation, Master joint training programs and many other fields. After negotiation, Richard Versmissen will visit Guangdong Province with the delegation led by Governor of Utrecht, Netherlands. At that time, the two universities will sign MOU officially. This project will make up the gap between GDUFS and Dutch universities in cooperative relations.

On September 27, Florian Feuser, Vice President of the University of Applied Languages, Munich, Germany (SDI), and Patrick Kuehnel, Dean of Department of Chinese German Simultaneous Interpretation, gave a warmly welcome to the delegation. Both sides gave a brief introduction of the current situation of the two universities. Then they conducted communication and interaction in detail around the topic about student exchange programs, multi-level of double degree joint training, the construction of oversea practice base and other fields. Also, they appreciated excellent cooperation resources that GDUFS provided, and agreed to sign the OGI of the two universities.
