Opening Ceremony of the 4th Transfiction Conference

North Campus, Guangdong University of Foreign Studies, Guangzhou, November 18th 2017: the opening ceremony of the 4th Transfiction Conference was held in the 9th Teaching Building at GDUFS.

 

YANG Aimin showed warm welcome to the attendees

 

Focusing on the images of the translational fiction, the conference was hosted by the Yunshan Leading Scholar and President of the Chinese and English Comparative Research, MO Aiping, who declared the opening of the conference and gave a warm welcome to the attendees including YANG Aimin, Vice President of GDUFS; Roberto A. Valdeon, Professor of the University of Oviedo and Fellow of the European Academy of Science; WANG Ning, Member of the Academic Committee of Tsinghua University and Distinguished Professor of Chang Jiang Scholars Program, and Luc Van Doorslaer, Dean of the Center of Translation Studies of the University of Leuven.

 

The welcoming speech having been given by the Vice President, YANG Aimin, Prof. LI Ruilin, Executive Director of CICLRC of GDUFS, delivered a speech for the ceremony. He expressed his heartfelt expectations that despite its young age, the Transfiction Conference is of great value to translation research, for which the conference deserved much attention.

 

LUO Xuanmin explained his novel ideas of transfictions

 

Held in Vienna in 2011, Tel Aviv in 2013 and Montreal in 2015, the conference finally came to Guangzhou. During the speech, Prof. LUO Xuanmin emphasized the relationship between writing and translating, and subsequently came up with a brave and open translation style taking the examples of HU Shi and CHEN Duxiu, who were both masters of translation and literature in modern China. Speaking of the word “transfiction”, he thought highly of the development of the relationship between writers and translators, concluding the main idea of the conference with his appealing speech.
