Vice Chancellor Obaid Bin Zakaria introduced the history of Lahore Garrison University. It was established by the Pakistan Army and was originally a military school. In 1986, it was transformed into a university and involved 4,000 students. It is famous for its Major of Computer Science, Physics and Business courses. He emphasized that LGU has a big department of languages, which is going to include Chinese. “Since China and Pakistan have been old friends and there is more and more interaction – especially the business contacts between these two countries,” said General Obaid Bin Zakaria “there is a large requirement for our students to learn Chinese.”

Vice President FANG Fanquan extended a warm welcome to the delegation of Pakistan and briefly introduced GDUFS and the Faculty of Chinese Language and Culture. As Mr. Obaid Bin Zakaria has visited Donghua University, Vice President FANG Fanquan compared it to GDUFS and pointed out the strengths and weaknesses of the Faculty of Chinese Language and Culture at GDUFS. But he was looking forward to establish an exchange program with Lahore Garrison University. He also agreed to establish a Distant Learning System if GDUFS expands cooperation with LGU.

Both sides had a happy and relaxing talk. Mr. Obaid Bin Zakaria thought highly of GDUFS and said it is “more well-known than many other universities in China.” Vice President FANG Fanquan also expressed his hope of visiting Pakistan, and he received a warm invitation from the Pakistani delegation.
