GDUFS Gains Two Key Projects Supported By the National Social Science Fund

Recently, the result of the first 2015 Key Projects Supported by the National Social Science Fund was published. Two projects from GDUFS are on the list: Research on the One Belt One Road Strategy and China’s Participation in Solving Global Economic Problems by Professor SUI Guangjun and Research on Establishing Consumption with Multiple Support in China’s New Normal by Professor YI Xingjian.

It is the third time since GDUFS first gained the key projects supported by the National Social Science Fund in 2012. To date, GDUFS has had four key projects under research. Sixty-nine projects are on the list of 2015 Key Projects Supported by the National Social Science Fund (First) , among which Guangdong Province gained eight in total. Sun Yet-Sen University got four, which is the most in Guangdong Province, while GDUFS and Jinan University respectively gained two, ranking second.

Since the subject guidelines published, GDUFS has spared no efforts to propagate and encouraging teachers and students to strive for it. After heated discussions on the topic, consideration on the GDUFS’s features and selecting suggestions from experts and scholars, we finally submitted three key projects. The achievements of the two projects also embodied our endeavor on exploring the academic researching orientation, focusing on the state theories and realistic problems. And the theory and intelligence we offer in these two projects would also help deepen the reform comprehensively and developing the economy and society stably and healthily.

In recent years, with the promotion of our scientific research strengths, we have accumulated projects, achievements and awards on scientific research, possessing the ability to work on key projects, which lays a good foundation for researching high-level key projects. Since the 12th Five-Year Plan, GDUFS has gained nine national key projects in all subjects, exceeding the goal of gaining 1-2 made by the 12th Five-Year Plan.

In other news, we have obtained 11 projects supported by National Social Science Foundation and 17 projects humanities and social sciences supported by the Education Ministry. Among the 11 projects, there are 2 key projects, 7 general projects, 1 youth project and 1 post-supported project, the establishing rate is 13%, 2% lower than that of 2014. As for the 17 projects, there are 6 projects supported by the Education Ministry Fund, 10 youth projects and 1 special project, the establishing rate is 25%, 14% higher than 2014. In 2015, there are 274 key projects being established by the National Social Science Foundation. Guangdong Province gained 14 of them. Five of them are from Jinan University, which ranks the first. GDUFS and South China University of Technology both rank the third, having two projects established.

In 2015, nine institutes obtained projects establishment of National Social Science Fund, which includes two projects from Linguistics and Applied Linguistics, others are from Faculty of English Language and Culture, School of English for International Business, School of Legal Studies, School of Journalism and Communication, Center for Foreign Literature and Culture, Canadian Research Centerand the Library. Twelve institutes obtained projects establishment of Education Ministry, including 3 from School of Finance, and the School of Business, School of Interpreting and Translation Studies, School of English Educationseparately gets 2, others are from Human Resources Division, Faculty of English Language and Culture, School of English for International Business, Faculty of Asian Languages and Cultures, School of Legal Studies, Cisco School of Informatics, Guangdong Research Institute for International Studies and Center for Lexicographical Studies.
