GDUFS Publicity Department Visited China Daily Agency

On the afternoon of June 7^th, HU Wentao, the President of GDUFS’s Publicity Department, led 4 members to visit the China Daily branch agency of Southern China. The attendants included ZHANG Yuan, LI Wenfang and GUO Qionglin, who are. Respectively, the Assistant Manager of China Daily as well as the President of the Journalists Organization of Guangdong Province and also the Vice-President and the President of the Feature Branch of Guangdong Province.

ZHANG Yuan presented a very warm welcome to the members of GDUFS’s Publicity Department and gave a brief introduction to recent developments; staff members and to the different feature columns of China Daily. According to ZHANG’s introduction, China Daily employs excellent photographers, animation and comics teams as well as over 80 editors qualified in foreign languages. Additionally, China Daily has cooperated with various foreign media and, since the Reformation; China Daily has devoted more resources to the new media than ever before. With the exception of Weibo and Wechat, China Daily has devoted several mobile devices to different groups. In ZHANG’s opinion, China Daily could cooperate with GDUFS to the advantage of its 50^thanniversary. LI Wenfang expressed gratitude to GDUFS’s tight cooperation with China Daily on the newspaper’s reporting jobs, and suggested that GDUFS’s English news website could present more popular features as well as campus news.

HU Wentao gave a brief introduction to GDUFS’s different majors, as well as the curriculum and work placement base. He also noted he was looking forward to founding a cooperative work placement base. HOU Yingzhong, the Vice-Dean of the School of Journalism and Communication, gave an introduction to the quality of their faculty members and noted some outstanding courses. He also put emphasis on introducing the cooperation project between GDUFS and the School of Journalism of the University of Missouri as well as inviting the specialists of China Daily to be the visiting professors and off-campus tutors in these programs.

They also had discussions about the construction of the English news website, marketing of the new media and analyzed the public opinion.
