The Second Session of the Vocal Music Competition for Guangdong College Students was held in GDUFS

June.7th--On June 2nd, "The Final Session of the Vocal Music Competition and the Awards Ceremony for College Students of Guangdong Province" was held on June 2nd at the South Campus. The event was hosted by the Department of Education of Guangdong Province and organized by GDUFS' College of Art. The competition was divided into two groups- one amature group and one professional group and included solo and chorus. The competition has been in progress since January this year.  After two rounds of contests, 69 programs entered the final to compete simultaneously in the Convention Hall and the Theater in the Art building separately.

The contestants who entered the final came from more than 20 colleges and universities in Guangdong Province including Xinghai Conservatory of Music, South China Normal University, Guangdong Medical College, Sun Yat-Sen University, Guangdong University of Technology, and Guangdong University of Foreign Studies. The competition aims to show the spirit and the professional performance of the university students while stimulating their aspiration for vocal music learning.

It was said that not since the first competition had the award ceremony been held on the spot and some of the award-winning programs were be performed at the same time. Yang Yan, the head of the Vocal Music Department of Xinghai Conservatory of Music and Su Yanhui, the Vice-President of the School of Art at South China Normal University made their impromptu comments on the award-winning programs and spoke highly of the organization of the GDUFS College and Art for their execution of this competition, includingits overall organization and arrangement as well as the contestants' excellent performance.

The competition invited Miao Xiangyang, Vice-Chairman of the Chorus Association of Guangdong Province, Su Yanhui from South China Normal University, Professor Wen Hengtai from GDUFS, Mi Heping from South China University of Technology and Professor Zhang Xin from Xinghai Conservatory of Music to be judges of the chorus group. Yang Yan, Chairman of the Vocal Music Association of China, Yang Tianjun from South China Normal University, Jin Xugeng, the State First-Class Composer, Li Yin from South China University of Technology and Luo Jinyan from GDUFS served as judges of the solo group.
