Nov. 5th -- The 11th Asian University Presidents Forum 2012 (AUPF) was held at Dongseo University in Busan, Korea from October 28th to the 31st. The theme for this year's forum was 'The Era of Asia: Creating a Cooperative Network of Asian Universities in Various Sessions". Sixty-eight representatives from various universities in 17 countries across Asia participated in the conference. Vice President Fang Fanquan and Vice Dean of the Faculty of Asian Languages and Cultures Quan Yonggen attended the forum on behalf of GDUFS.
During the meeting, the representatives deliberated on several issues, including the visions and trends of education markets in Asia, benchmarks of internationalization of education and preparing the students for the global workforce. The President of Dongseo University Chang Jekuk emphasized the importance of communication and exchange among Asian universities to foster "True Asians" -- future leaders characterized by resilience, open-mindedness and creative abilities.

Three major decisions that were made in the Busan Statement of AUPF are 1) the initiation of the Asian Summer Program, 2) the establishing of GDUFS as the Secretariat of AUPF, and 3) the settlement that the 2013 AUPF will be hosted by Perlis University in Malaysia.

During his visit to Busan, Vice President Fang Fanquan paid a visit to Pusan University of Foreign Studies (PUFS) at the invitation of PUFS Vice President Jung Yonggak. Mr. Jung and other officials warmly received the GDUFS delegation and made a brief introduction about PUFS.

Vice President Fang also visited the 3 exchange students at PUFS. He extended his gratitude to PUFS for taking good care of the GDUFS students and expressed his hope to strengthen ties and enhance cooperation between the two universities.
Vice President Fang then departed for Seoul to meet with GDUFS exchange students and graduates, inquiring about their life, work and study in Korea. He and the students discussed the establishment of the GDUFS Alumni Association in Korea.
