Seminar on Strategic Development of Adidas in GDUFS

May 29th--The strategic seminar of Adidas was staged on the North Campus of GDUFS, serving as one program of innovative elite training and teaching practice for international business students. The seminar was held in the School of English and International Business (SEIB) and the theme of the program was "Entrepreneur in Class".

 

The attending guests included Vice President Liu Jianda, the Vice Director of the Academic Office of GDUFS, General Manager of Adidas China Mr. Simon, Manager of the Social-Affairs Department Mr. Johnson, and the Dean and General Secretary of the Communist Party in SEIB.

 

At the very beginning, Vice President Liu Jianda introduced the international-oriented teaching plan, the aim of which is producing innovative, elite students with a comprehensive and transnational outlook on international business. He stated that the innovation classes inspire students to take what they've learned from lessons taught in the classroom, and transfer them into pragmatic uses in real life situations. The goal is to see the whole society as an extensive class. Therefore, the seminar provided students a wonderful opportunity to broaden their horizons and improve their capability of practice and innovation. Finally, Vice President Liu Jianda expressed his gratitude to the Adidas Company China Limited for its support and active collaboration with GDUFS and presented a gift to Mr.Simon.

Afterwards, Mr.Simon gave a demonstration of Adidas' brand strategy in China. He also made a reference to the institutional structure, the establishment of branch companies, the product mix in Adidas. and details on shoe products. Meanwhile, he elaborated on the company's strategic planning of technology, production chains, marketing and customer service over the past couple of years. Then, Mr. Johnson addressed the students and said, "Adidas has gone a long way to maintain a balance between making a profit and seeking social welfare for the company." He made a presentation on how much Adidas had achieved in public service and environmental causes in recent years. In addition, he introduced the internal safeguard for employees' interests and rights as well as employee benefits.

In the question-raising session, Mr. Simon answered students' questions concerning the strategy of market competition, management and marketing manoeuvres. Students claimed that they learned a lot in this seminar and furthered their knowledge of business acquired in books, which fully demonstrated the feature of using their classroom study for practical purposes.
