In April, 2015, GDUFS’s international students successfully completed several acts of charity work, bringing love and hope to others in need, with the help from their professors: Joshua Isaacs and Maria Isaacs.
The class of Joshua Isaacs was divided into 12 small groups. Each group had to start their own business to earn money to donate to charity. Their goal was to earn as much as possible within a month with an initial 200 RMB or 300 RMB base for the business. To begin with, each group of international students had to struggle and come up with a great idea. Then, they were supposed to turn the idea into a real charity organization. Finally, they donated all the profits they gained to those who were in need.

“It was a practical rather than theoretical experiment for the students to prove to them their viability to create a working business model as well as to encourage them to help the community.” said Professor Isaacs. The reasons why these international students did such a project were easy to understand. Firstly, the project was a kind of class work which aimed to help students apply their business skills because all of them were studying business administration. Furthermore, what these students did was for love and hope, which was more important. One student, Robin said, “Doing charity is a way of life to improve the world and a way which most people should apply.” Also, another group said, “God tells us: everyone needs help and we should help (those who need help)” Doing charity, the international students beautified the big world.

Abandoned Chinese kids, Chinese cancer patients, Nepalese living in the earthquake-stricken areas of that country and Syrian refugees all were their objects. They managed to get information about who needed help from the internet, their friends, their classmates, their professors and even the Guangzhou charitable organizations. “We, as human beings, couldn’t just watch what is happening to these poor people involved. Therefore we decided to aid the innocents with whatever help we could offer.” said Sohail Thabit.
Maria smiled, “Students have done a great job in real business.” These kind international students succeeded in gaining profits, bringing and passing love and hope to others.
