On the afternoon of April 25th, the second China Forum opened at No.7 teaching building of the north campus. Organized by the GDUFS Institute for International Education and the Global Society, the China Forum was designed to call together Chinese and International students, allowing them to discuss the similarities and differences in education comparing China and foreign countries, and looking at education from multiple angles, to establish a right view on education.

The forum started with the opening speech of WANG Yiqian, the Supervisor of the Office of Students' Affairs at the GDUFS/IIE, Mr. WANG gave his opinion on family education and college education by sharing two stories.

In the next section, two movie clips were played for the students; one was from a US movie, Dead Poets Society, and the other was a Singaporean film, I Not Stupid. The two movies shared one theme: reflection on the way of education in their respective homeland. After viewing, the hosts asked six students onto the stage to share their thoughts on the movie clips, too, they were encouraged to share their thinking on the way of education in China and other countries and their own experiences in school.

Heated discussion

Afterwards, the students were divided into five groups, each group was asked to discuss three questions: whether the requirement of "full development" is reasonable? Should "exam-oriented education" be advocated? And is it good to force children to develop special abilities? After the discussion, two representatives were elected by each group to present the results of their discussion.

In the last segment of the forum, an interactive game named Who Is Undercover made the atmosphere livelier.
