“We Are Young; We Are Dreaming; We Are Chasing”

On September 25th and 27th, wonderful performances for the freshmen during their military training – We Are Young; We Are Dreaming; We Are Chasing – were held on both the north campus and the south campus, which fully showcased “GDUFS’s dream”, and inspired the freshmen to chase their dreams.

We Are Young

The orchestra of GDUFS performed the world classics, marking the opening of the performances as well as showing the internationalization of GDUFS.

In the first part of the show — We Are Young — the choir sang Chrysanthemums Terrace and Jasmine Flowers a cappella. Each girl was wearing a long snow-like dress, holding a white candle and singing sweetly. The familiar lyrics, yet the special version, successfully attracted all of the audience.

The dance team of GDUFS’s Art Group performed Palpitate and Reborn, showing the vigorous life and optimism of young blood. Also, the NCA Team passionately performed dynamic cheer aerobics — Dreaming. The short sketch — Eating Noodles, an adaption of CHEN Peisi and ZHU Shimao’s classic work — indicated that undergraduates should bear their dreams in mind and work hard. Another short sketch — The Interview — reproduced the scene of interviews in a humorous way, enabling the freshmen to know how to outshine themselves when having the important interviews for associations. Martial Arts are indispensable to a fantastic show. The wonderful performance of the Martial Art Association of Gangmaoyuan and the Nunchakus Association earned prolonged applause.

“This is the history of GDUFS......” In the second part of the show, the emcee team of the GDUFS Art Group read the poem — the 50th anniversary of GDUFS, expressing best wishes to GDUFS. The last sentence — I am so proud of being a GDUFS’er — aroused echoes among the freshmen.

There were more wonderful performances. The model team drew everyone’s attention the moment they stood on the stage. The freshmen also gave us a “shock”: the song – We will rock you — really rocked the room; the elegant Xinjinag dance showed the hospitality of Xinjiang people. Then the Green Elfs’s Dance Team, TGC and UC combined together to perform a creative dance, mixing modern dance and hip hop.

An antithetical couplet expressed sincere wishes to GDUFS, which was finished on the spot with soft traditional Chines music. It said that we should keep the memory in mind and be congratulated on the 50th anniversary of GDUFS. Also, responsible and hardworking instructors of the military training performed the tough physical training in their daily life, giving a full display of soldiers’ abilities.

When the wonderful performances came to an end, everybody sang the school anthem, and expressed their pride in being a GDUFS’er. Although the show was over, the brand-new days of the freshmen at GDUFS had just begun. Young blood are now chasing their dreams in the university.
