The contest took the form of a knockout, and was divided into two parts. In the English-Chinese part, the English content surrounded the Sino-America deal on climate change and compared it with the Copenhagen Conference. The audiotape and its interpretation lasted for 3 minutes. In this round, our school students won praise from the judges for their sound background knowledge and adept interpretation.
In the Chinese-English part, the topic concerned the China’s Economic Monetization. The frequent usage of jargon and numbers required competitors to have a command of interpretation and resilience. Our school students confronted the unfamiliar topic, intensive information and frequent numbers, but they dealt with the problem resourcefully and made a deep impression on the judges. After the judges’ thorough evaluation, YANG Bo won the first place.
