My Hometown--Zhaoqing

Situated in the midwest of Guangdong Province, Zhaoqing is the cradle of Lingnan Culture as well as Guangfu Culture and it's also known as the Inkstone City of China.

When you travel around Zhaoqing, you may pay a visit to the scenic spot named Seven-star Crags,  the landmark of my hometown. This beautiful scenic spot consists of five lakes, six hillocks, seven crags and eight caves, which covers 8.23 square kilometers. Seven-star Crags is famous for its Karst landform and the lake landscape. Among the seven crags, Tianzhu Yan ( Sky-pointing Crag) is the highest, which is about 117 meters high. If you like poems, Age-old Poem Corridor is the best choice. There, on the smooth surface of the natural crags, you can find carved poems and writings, recording important events as well as achievements in the history. Divided into five parts by the 20-meter long lake embankment, the Seven-Star Lake is like a mirror, clear and calm. Once there comes the wind, ripples will greet your eyes. Rowing on the lake, enjoying the natural beauty of lakes and mountains, you may sometimes have the illusion that you are travelling in a picture. That's why Seven-Star Crags has won the great reputation of " Fairyland on Earth".

Besides Seven-star Crags, Dinghu Mountain always attracts visitors from home and abroad. As one of the four famous mountains in Guangdong Province, Dinghu Mountain is praised as " Emerald on the Tropical of Cancer". There you can embrace nature and feel calm in heart. Around the year, trees are luxuriantly green and it serves as a natural oxygen bar. When summer comes, more people would like to have a trip to Dinghu Mountain, for it's a good summer resort in Zhaoqing. Among all the scenic spots in Dinghu Mountain, Flying waterfall pool is the most popular one. After the revolution of 1911, Sun Yat-sen and his wife Song Qinglin travelled around Dinghu Mountain and had swum in the flying waterfall pool. You can still find the inscription " Sun Yat-sen's Swimming Place" on the precipice nowadays. Before you reach the destination, before you see the waterfall, you need to climb up the mountain step by step. However, it won't be boring, for the birds' twittering and the sounds of waterfall will accompany you along the way.

About the gourmet food, the Zongzi named Guozheng is the most famous. Before the spring festival comes, most families will begin to make Guozheng. Its main stuffings are glutinous rice, mung bean and meat. After wrapping up, it takes about seven or eight hours to boil. It symbolizes warmth and reunion in the spring festival in winter.
