Located in the southwest of Hubei, in the middle reach of Yangtze River, in the central part of Jianghan Plain, Jingzhou city covers an area of 14,104 square kilometers, with a population of 6,4573 million. Having been the capital city of Chu State in history, Jingzhou is a national-level historical and cultural city and is honored as the Excellent Tourism City and Sanitary City of China.
Jingzhou, a city enjoying a long history and splendid culture, is renowned both at home and abroad as a bright pearl of Jianghan Plain. It has been more than 2600 years since the city was built. As the birthplace of Chu Culture and the center of Culture of Three Kingdoms, the city has witnessed the vicissitudes of the history of Chu State.
Jingzhou Ancient City
Jingzhou has a solid agricultural foundation. The total output of grain, cotton, oil-bearing seeds amd the aquatic products ranks the first in Hubei Province. There are seven listed companies including Sanonda in the city. Jingzhou has established good and stable relationship with 16 cities of 10 countries including South Korea and Germany. Some large-scale multinational companies such as Philips of the Netherlands have invested in the city.
The major scenic spots and cultural sites in Jingzhou include Jingzhou Ancient City, the museum, Honghu Lake and Songzi Weishui Scenic Spot. The annual events of Jingzhou International Dragon Boat Festival and Jingzhou Phoenix Music Festival make the city a center for promoting and popularizing Chu Culture, Culture of Three Kingdoms and Culture of Dragon and Phoenix.
