Oct.21st---Oct.20th marked The third Festival of World Culture at GDUFS was held on October 20th at the north campus. A great number of students swarmed the halls with great joy. The festival was opened with a hot dance which lit up the atmosphere. It was follwed by a fashion show given by students from different countries. Both numbers won great support from the audience. After the show, we were lucky enough to invite performers Julia and Antonio for interview.
Students from all over the world
Julia from Germany said she felt excited to have performed in the fashion show. "I think it's very good for the university to hold such a festival for students. It's just like a party," she said, "Look at our costumes with distinctive features, we brought them ourselves." When asked how she was adapting to life at GDUFS, she said that she enjoys sitting on the grass and talking with friends, but she hasn't got used to Chinese food yet so she often dines with her friends in western restaurants outside the campus. What's more, she finds Chinese difficult to learn. She is, however, very interested in Chinese culture. She also wants to travel around Guangzhou during the holiday to experience the lifestyle of the local Cantonese people.
Antonio singing
Antonio from Spain has studied at GDUFS for one year. He said that he got used to the life here quickly. The kindness of Chinese people impressed him deeply because of his own special experience. He recalled that he had once hurt his leg on the campus and a Chinese girl sitting beside helped him to stop the blood with some tissues and cotton balls. Although there are different cultures in the world, Antonio said he preferred Chinese culture. That's why he enjoys learning and speaking Chinese. He shows great talent in music and he likes singing, dancing and playing guitar. As one of the players who entered the final singing competition with the song, "Voice in Autumn", he hopes to impress people with his voice.
