June 24 - Every year many overseas students come to GDUFS to study Chinese. Among them is Fedor Yanyshev, a student from Russia.

Born in St Petersburg, Fedor attended the Moscow State Linguistic University.  He is a typical Russian with golden hair and blue eyes. Running around campus, he is usually dressed casually in T-shirt and red Crocs.

Fedor is among those few students who not only speak Chinese fluently, but are also very familiar with Chinese culture. His wide knowledge of Chinese culture is simply amazing. He has been to many cities in China: Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Hong Kong, Chong Qin, Xi'an and many other small cities. He travels from north to south, from east to west, from city to the Chinese countryside.  It is these travels that has lent him a thorough understanding of Chinese custom, its national character and its traditions. He knows the most popular idioms, such as "Wu Yu", and "Lei Ren". This year, Fedor stayed in China to celebrate the New Year, and his whole family came to visit him.

Fedor is optimistic, thoughtful to others, and has a natural sense of humor, which makes him popular with his companions. You can always find a smile on his face, no matter what, no matter when, and no matter how many difficulties he's facing. Because of this, it's easy to happy around him. People like him.

Being open-minded, he regards those who have congenial interests as his friends, regardless of their age, sex or nationality. And whenever his friends are in need, he is always there to help. When his Chinese friends from the faculty of Russian ask for his help, or invite him to take part in their activities, such as the European Cultural Festival, Academic and Cultural Festival of Graduates and the Knowledge Contests, he is always willing to join or give some advice.

Fedor's life in Guangzhou is rich and interesting. Apart from study, he has a lot of extracurricular activities. In his spare time, Fedor likes to go to the movies or play sports.  He used to be a professional hockey player, in the St. Petersburg hockey team. And here in Guangzhou, he likes climbing mountains. He has a VIP card at the Baiyun Mountain. He enjoys the beautiful scenery, and climbs the mountain when he has time.

The Asian Games will be held in Guangzhou soon. As a European, he has also made his own contribution to this big event. He was asked to appear in advertisements of Guangzhou TV station to promote the Asian Games. He said that thanks to the Asian Games, great changes have taken place in Guangzhou: The metros have become more advanced, customer service has become better, and public facilities have become more foreign -friendly.

Fedor adopts an active attitude towards everything. He holds his own view on environment and life, which helps him to stay healthy and happy. I sometimes feel it is my luck to know Fedor Yanyshev, a kind, wise person because I've learned a lot from him. I have learned to be optimistic, and to be kind to everybody around.  The name "Fedor" in Russian means " gift from the god", and he is absolutely a gift to all of his friends!

This stands original.
