May 29 - From a bank clerk in Kenya to just months away from graduating from the GDUFS MBA program, Mary is now more knowledgeable, and of course, more competitive - because knowledge and experience is power.

Mary came to China in 2008, and after studying for two-years at GDUFS's MBA program, she is going to graduate in August, 2010.

Mary had worked in a bank before she came to China. Not long after working there, she felt the need to enrich her knowledge and broaden her horizons. Thus, this Kenyan young lady chose China as her destination. Before selecting GDUFS, Mary researched and found that the MBA program at GDUFS was of high quality. Besides, one of her friends studying in China informed her that GDUFS was one of best universities in southern China. This was how Mary's life at GDUFS began.

Study in GDUFS

Mary thinks highly of the MBA program in GDUFS: the curriculum arrangement is reasonable, the teachers are erudite, and the classmates are nice. Besides knowledge, she has also learned some qualities that will make her a better manager; to work cooperatively, to think critically, to communicate effectively, and to listen attentively. Among these, she highlighted the importance of teamwork. There is a lot of teamwork in class," she says, we have to learn to work as a team."

From an international student's angle, would like to see more foreign professors and exchange program opportunities at the MBA center. She also hopes to see more international students attending classes at the MBA center so that they can have a sense of belonging.

Life in Guangzhou

Though a foreigner, and unable to speak Chinese, Mary lives her life to the fullest. Despite that it has only been two years; Mary had been to Beijing, Zhongshan, Shenzhen and many other cities in China. Mary is not alone here - her classmates are really nice, and her friends in the Institute of Education for International Students keep her company. Now and then, she calls her friends abroad, who motivate her quite a lot.

Mary has gotten used to life here, and life is truly colorful in Guangzhou. Quite often, she goes shopping and visits various places with her friends, trying different kinds of food, meeting new people, and having lots of fun.

Mary is an ambitious young woman, eager to learn and excited to experience the world. Being clearly aware that a person is most powerful when armed with knowledge, she strives to enrich herself with knowledge and experience. After graduation, Mary plans to go back to Kenya and start her own company.
