Delegation from Soka University Visits GDUFS

On the afternoon of June 28, Mika Suzuki, President of Soka University, led a delegation to Guangdong University of Foreign Studies (GDUFS). Shi Youqi, Party Secretary of GDUFS, welcomed the guests in the VIP Hall of the Administration Building of the Baiyun Mountain Campus. The two sides held in-depth discussions on deepening educational cooperation and promoting people-to-people and cultural exchanges between China and Japan.

Meeting Scene

Party Secretary Shi introduced GDUFS’s distinctive strengths and educational achievements in Japanese language and literature education, as well as Japanese Studies. He noted that the Japanese program, as one of the first national first-class undergraduate programs, plays a strategic role in the university’s discipline development. Currently, the faculty of Japanese Language and Culture has established long-term collaborations with 28 Japanese universities, including Soka University, which involve dual degree programs and student exchanges. Looking ahead, he expressed the university’s readiness to further strengthen cooperation with Soka University across multiple areas, including faculty and student exchange, joint research, and academic seminars, to jointly promote people-to-people and cultural exchanges, and foster mutual learning between Chinese and Japanese nations. On the occasion of GDUFS’s 60th anniversary and its hosting of the Asian University Presidents Forum, he extended a sincere invitation to Mika Suzuki to share her insights and contribute to building a new Asian Higher Education Community.

Mika Suzuki presented a comprehensive overview of Soka University’s development philosophy and internationalization strategy. She emphasized that Soka University places humanistic education at its core and is committed to cultivating interdisciplinary talent with a global vision. The university places great importance on exchanges and cooperation with Chinese universities, seeking mutual learning in areas such as teaching models, scientific research, and international talent development. Looking ahead, she expressed her hope to carry out practical cooperation with GDUFS in fields such as academic research, people-to-people and cultural exchanges, to advance joint projects between the two institutions, and to contribute to the development of friendly relations between the two countries.
