Delegation from Complutense University of Madrid Visits GDUFS

On the afternoon of June 30, Miguel Ángel Sastre Castillo, Vice President of Complutense University of Madrid, led a delegation to visit Guangdong University of Foreign Studies (GDUFS). Shen Minghao, Vice President of GDUFS, welcomed the guests in the VIP Hall of the Administration Building of the Baiyun Mountain Campus. The two sides exchanged views on educational cooperation and cultural exchange.

Meeting Scene

Shen Minghao gave a detailed account of the university’s history, educational philosophy, and internationalization profile. He noted that GDUFS has been committed to expanding its global education cooperation network and has established partnerships with 511 universities and academic institutions in 66 countries and regions. Among them, cooperation with Spanish universities has been particularly close, especially the seven-year partnership with Complutense University of Madrid, which has produced significant outcomes in student exchange and other areas. He expressed the hope that this visit would provide an opportunity to explore deeper cooperation in areas such as faculty and student exchange, joint research, and academic resource sharing, with particular focus on developing innovative models for interdisciplinary programs in the Spanish language and related fields. He added that such cooperation would not only promote the development of the two universities but also contribute to people-to-people and cultural exchanges, and foster mutual learning between the two countries, injecting new vitality into bilateral relations.

Miguel Ángel Sastre Castillo provided an overview of the history and internationalization strategy of Complutense University of Madrid. As one of Spain’s oldest and most prestigious comprehensive universities, Complutense University of Madrid has consistently attached great importance to collaboration with universities worldwide, with particular dedication to deepening partnerships with Chinese universities. He expressed the hope that the university would continue to maintain and strengthen its long-standing partnership with GDUFS, carry out practical cooperation in multiple areas, and achieve mutually beneficial outcomes.
