Delegation from Consulate General of Italy in Guangzhou Visits GDUFS

On the afternoon of June 10, Mr. Valerio De Parolis, Consul General of the Consulate General of Italy in Guangzhou, led a delegation to visit Guangdong University of Foreign Studies (GDUFS). President Yan Xiangbin welcomed the guests in the VIP Hall of the Administration Building of the Baiyun Mountain Campus. Both sides exchanged views on educational cooperation and cultural exchanges.

President Yan extended a heartfelt welcome to Consul General De Parolis and his delegation, and highlighted the long-standing friendship between the University and the Consulate General of the Republic of Italy in Guangzhou, as evidenced by the bilateral cooperation mechanism that has delivered constructive achievements in fields including cultural and people-to-people exchanges and joint academic development. Looking ahead, Yan expressed a strong desire to deepen cooperation with more Italian universities and institutions in talent cultivation and scientific research. He also noted that Italian scholars and experts are warmly welcomed to teach, lecture, and conduct scientific research at GDUFS, contributing together to the cultivation of talent with a global vision. Such efforts could better serve the needs of economic and social development and international engagement, serving as a bridge for China-Italy cultural exchanges and a catalyst for bilateral economic and trade cooperation.

Mr. De Parolis expressed his gratitude for the warm reception by GDUFS. He spoke highly of the achievements in language teaching by the Italian department of GDUFS and inquired further into the development of the Italian major. In addition, he pointed out that the Consulate General would actively support the discipline construction of GDUFS’s Italian language programs, with a key focus on promoting pragmatic collaboration in the field of talent cultivation.
