On the morning of March 12, Dr. Timothy Kendall, the Australian Consul General in Guangzhou, led a delegation to visit Guangdong University of Foreign Studies (GDUFS). President Yan Xiangbin welcomed the delegation in the VIP Hall of the Administration Building of the Baiyun Mountain Campus. Discussions focused on strengthening higher education cooperation, cultural exchanges, and university-industry collaboration.

Discussion Highlights
President Yan provided an overview of GDUFS’s educational philosophy, internationalization efforts, and partnerships with Australian institutions. He highlighted GDUFS as the most linguistically diverse higher education institution in South China, committed to cultivating globally minded talent. He noted that the university has established long-term partnerships with 15 leading Australian universities and educational institutions, covering academic research, faculty and student exchanges, joint training programs. President Yan hoped to deepen cooperation in faculty exchange, cultural studies, research projects, and joint programs while also promoting overseas internship programs in Australia for graduate students, fostering closer cultural ties and promoting talent development between the two countries.
Dr. Kendall emphasized the importance of people-to-people and educational exchanges, as well as the positive impact of multiculturalism on social development. He regarded the meeting as a valuable opportunity to foster deeper bilateral collaboration in higher education and pledged strong support for expanding partnerships between GDUFS and Australian institutions, particularly in facilitating cross-border internships. He expressed optimism about maintaining friendly relations and advancing education cooperation between Australia and China, laying a solid foundation for stronger cultural ties and bilateral relations.
