On the morning of March 6, Gina Andreadi, the Greek Consul General in Guangzhou, visited Guangdong University of Foreign Studies (GDUFS). President Yan Xiangbin welcomed the delegation in the VIP Hall of the Administration Building of the Baiyun Mountain Campus. The discussions centered on strengthening higher education cooperation and cultural exchanges.

Discussion Highlights
President Yan warmly congratulated Consul General Andreadi on her new appointment and introduced the university’s educational philosophy and internationalization efforts. He highlighted the achievements of the Greek Language Program, the only undergraduate program of its kind in South China, which follows a “Language + Culture + Practice” training model. The curriculum covers linguistics, literature, translation, and intercultural communication. President Yan noted that cooperation between GDUFS and Greek institutions dates back to 2017 when a partnership was established with the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. Since then, both sides have collaborated on student exchange and joint training programs. He proposed expanding cooperation in faculty exchange, cultural research, and academic collaboration to further enhance Sino-Greek dialogue and promote talent development.
Consul General Andreadi expressed her gratitude for the warm reception and praised GDUFS’s achievements in international education and Greek language studies. She emphasized the historical significance of the Greek language and recognized the university’s important role in promoting Greek culture and fostering people-to-people exchanges. She pledged strong support for making GDUFS a leading hub for Greek language teaching and research in southern China and fostering deeper ties between Greek universities and GDUFS.

Following the discussions, the delegation visited the School of Global and Area Studies, where both sides further discussed talent development and academic research, agreeing to strengthen ties in the future.
