Delegation from the Belt and Road Institute in Sweden Visits Guangdong University of Foreign Studies

On the morning of October 24, Stephen Brawer, Chairman of the Belt and Road Institute in Sweden (BRIX), and his delegation came to visit Guangdong University of Foreign Studies (GDUFS). Vice President Jiao Fangtai met with the guests in the VIP room of the administrative building of Baiyunshan Campus. The two sides exchanged opinions on deepening communication and cooperation.

Talks between the two sides

Jiao Fangtai welcomed Stephen Brawer and his delegation and introduced the history, culture, operation, and talent training of GDUFS. He said that GDUFS is a high-level university with distinctive internationalization characteristics and actively carries out high-quality foreign exchanges and cooperation with foreign universities and scientific research institutions. GDUFS has currently signed an agreement with BRIX and promoted practical cooperation. Guangdong Research Institute for International Studies and BRIX jointly organized the first Belt and Road Initiative and China-EU Cooperation Forum (2023); through the Campus EU-Asia International Innovative Talent Program, students from GDUFS have interned at BRIX. At the same time, Jiao Fangtai highly recognized the efforts and achievements made by BRIX in in-depth research and promotion of the Belt and Road initiative. He said that GDUFS will continue to focus on the research fields of the Belt and Road Initiative and actively develop new research programs. He looks forward to further deepening cooperation with BRIX to help build a bridge of communication between China and Sweden, and China and Europe.

Stephen Brawer expressed his gratitude to GDUFS for the welcome and introduced the overall situation of BRIX. He said that the Belt and Road Initiative has a profound impact on the common prosperity and development of Sweden, China, and the international community. BRIX actively organizes seminars and education activities and releases relevant information through multiple media to enhance public understanding of the Belt and Road Initiative. At the same time, he hopes that more countries will actively accept and participate in the Belt and Road Initiative with an open mind to promote common prosperity and progress for all countries around the world. He looks forward to continuing to strengthen exchanges with GDUFS to better promote the Belt and Road Initiative, global connectivity, and sustainable development.
