New Consul General of Japan in Guangzhou Visits Guangdong University of Foreign Studies

On the afternoon of November 13, Ms. KIJIMA (INA) YOSHIKO, the newly appointed Consul General of Japan in Guangzhou, and her delegation visited Guangdong University of Foreign Studies (GDUFS). Shi Youqi, Secretary of the Party Committee of GDUFS, met with the guests in the VIP Room of the Administration Building of Baiyunshan Campus. The two sides exchanged views on strengthening cultural exchanges and deepening friendly cooperative relations.

Shi Youqi gave a detailed introduction to the delegation on the general situation, Japanese major construction, and foreign exchanges of GDUFS. He said that as a key provincial university of the High-Level University Construction Project of Guangdong Province, GDUFS actively carries out high-quality external exchanges and cooperation with foreign (overseas) universities, scientific research institutions, and internationalization organizations to shape distinctive internationalization characteristics. GDUFS has carried out exchanges and cooperation with more than 20 Japanese universities and has made great achievements. Shi Youqi said that GDUFS enjoys a sound training system for Japanese major and has yielded substantial accomplishments. The Collective Action for Mobility Program of University Students in Asia jointly applied by Dongseo University, Ritsumeikan University, and GDUFS has received the highest evaluation from the Ministry of Education of the three countries respectively. In the future, GDUFS will continue to play the role of a bridge in education and cultural exchanges between China and Japan. By maintaining close exchanges with the Consulate General of Japan in Guangzhou, GDUFS will form wide-ranging and in-depth cooperation among universities to share opportunities, seek common development, and promote and contribute to the mutual learning of civilizations and the development of human society.

Yoshiko Guidao (Inai) expressed her appreciation for the quality of Japanese talent training at GDUFS and its contribution to promoting Japan-China education cooperation. She said that bilingual talents in Japanese and Chinese have built a bridge for cultural exchanges and cooperation between Japan and China. With the strong support of GDUFS, a series of activities such as Japanese speech contests and tea ceremony lectures have delivered great results, further promoting cultural exchanges between Japan and China. She looks forward to continuing to deepen friendly exchanges, carry out practical cooperation with GDUFS in the future.
