Students from GDUFS Won Polish Best International Student Award

North Campus, Guangdong University of Foreign Studies, April 26th 2022: Recently, an outstanding undergraduate from GDUFS, Chen Yiyu, won the 2022 Polish Best International Special Award, which aims to single out the best international students studying in Poland.

Chen Yiyu was one of the first batch of Polish undergraduates enrolled by GDUFS. She won a scholarship from the China Scholarship Council to study in Jagiellonian University (UJ) for one year, and then studied at UJ for her Master of Laws. In 2022, she attended the Private International Law Moot Court Competition on behalf of Jagiellonian University, where her teamwork skills and social responsibility received generous praise. Apart from her academic performance, Chen, as an international volunteer, provided several national administrations with translation service, and taught Chinese in Poland to help exchange Chinese traditional culture.

Zhang Huiling, who graduated as an outstanding graduate with Chen in the same year at GDUFS, received her Master’s degree in Teaching Polish as a Foreign Languages from Jagiellon University in Krakow, Poland. She won this award for two translations of modern Polish literature and her excellent work in promoting communication between China and Poland.

When it comes to their undergraduate university, they both expressed their gratitude to the faculty of GDUFS Polish major. “More than just professional knowledge, I gained abilities for cross-cultural communication and interdisciplinary development. It all depended on the cultivation offered to me by my dean, Mr. Mao Yinhui." Zhang also thanked Mr. Mao’s assistance in translation work, which was helpful for her development.

When Polish was established, GDUFS signed an agreement for exchanging undergraduate with Jagiellonian University. With this new level of deeper cooperation and all-round partnership, the school also signed a 2+2 joint-degree program in order to build a platform for graduates to study for their master's degree.
