Six Confucius Institutes Congratulated the 55th Anniversary of GDUFS

North Campus, Guangdong University of Foreign Studies, December 2^nd, 2020: Recently, Hiroki Arakawa，chairman of Sapporo University; Yoshiyuki Omori, president of Sapporo University; Victor Koksharov, president of the Ural Federal University; Vladimir Kruzhaev, vice president of the Ural Federal University; Manuel Briceño Ortega, president of the Catholic University of Santa Maria; Judite Nascimento, president of the University of Cape Verde; António Manuel de Sousa Pereira, president of the University of Porto; Mahmoud El Meteini, president of Ainshams University, together with the teachers and students of the Confucius Institutes (classrooms) built by these six universities and GDUFS, congratulated GDUFS on its 55th anniversary through videos and congratulatory letters.

Hiroki Arakawa, chairman of Sapporo University and its Confucius Institute, and Yoshiyuki Omori, university president, sent GDUFS a Chinese congratulatory letter, expressing congratulations on the 55th anniversary of GDUFS and appreciation for the cooperation between the two universities over the past years. Victor Koksharov, president of the Ural Federal University, and Vladimir Kruzhaev,vice president, together with their Chinese faculty members, specially recorded a video to express their congratulations on the 55th anniversary of GDUFS.

Manuel Briceño Ortega, president of the Catholic University of Santa Maria in Peru, sent a congratulatory letter and a video expressing his affirmation of the cooperation between the two universities and the Confucius Institute platform. Judite Nascimento, president of the University of Cape Verde, also sent a congratulatory letter and a video to commemorate the 55th anniversary of GDUFS. She specifically mentioned that GDUFS is one of the most excellent universities of foreign language in China and there have been many opportunities for academic cooperation between the two universities. She also emphasized that since the Confucius Institute at the University of Cape Verde was established, more than 4,000 students have had the opportunity to learn Chinese and Chinese culture.

Mahmoud El Mettini, president of Ainshams University in Egypt, sent a congratulatory letter in Chinese to congratulate GDUFS on its 55th anniversary. At the same time, he expressed his affirmation of the cooperation between the two universities over the years and their achievements in construction of Confucius Institutes. Volunteers from its Confucius Institutes recorded a short video to express their congratulations on the 55th anniversary of GDUFS and expressed their gratitude to the Confucius Institutes at Ainshams University as a communicating platform. António Manuel de Sousa Pereira, president of the University of Porto in Portugal, together with the students of the Confucius Institute also specially recorded a video to celebrate the anniversary of GDUFS. He mentioned that the Confucius Institute at the University of Porto is a beneficial result of the cooperation between the two universities. He emphasized that the cooperation between the two universities is beneficial to a higher level of internationalization and the communication between China and Portugal.

Unlike from the previous separate activities held by each Confucius Institutes, the six Confucius Institutes (classrooms) of GDUFS carried out a series of special activities this year, such as: " Southern Guangdong Ancient Post Road "— The Lingnan Cultural Special Activity and Learning Lecture, and competition of Chinese and foreign cultural knowledge，which initially explored methods of developing the brand of the " GDUFS Confucius Institute ". Beginning this year, the Confucius Institute Office of GDUFS has organized 6 Confucius Institutes (classrooms) to jointly carry out a number of online and offline teaching activities and a series of branding cultural activities, which have achieved great social effects.
