Delegates from Queensland Visit GDUFS

August 6 - On the afternoon of July 28th, a delegation from Department of Education and Training, Queensland, visited the GDUFS North Campus. The guests were Associate Director General Rod Camm for the Department's Skills Queensland, Construction Skills Queensland CEO Brett Schimming, Queensland University of Technology Deputy Vice-Chancellor International and Development Scott Sheppard and his assistant Ms Annie Chan, CEO Xu Jun and Development Director Cao Bing of Trade and Investment Queensland representation in Guangzhou. GDUFS President Zhong Weihe, Vice-President Gu Yeli, International Office Deputy Director Liang Jie and International College Associate Dean Wu Yiming welcomed the guests.

 

President Zhong briefly introduced GDUFS and its cooperation with Australian higher educational institutions as part of the international strategy. He mentioned that GDUFS is a well-known university characterized by its internationalization. So far, our school has built up partnerships with over 160 higher educational institutions and the collaborations include "2+2" Programs and "3+1" Programs. For instance, GDUFS has been cooperated with the well-known University of Queensland (UQ) for ages and many GDUFS students have been sent to UQ. Besides, GDUFS also has established partnerships with Deakin University and Victoria University in Australia. President Zhong expressed his hope for closer partnerships with more Australian colleges and universities.

Associate Director General Camm expressed his appreciation of President Zhong's warm welcome and said he was impressed by the development of GDUFS. On its China tour, the delegation has signed agreements on partnerships with some higher educational institutions from Shanghai and Guangdong, hoping to improve the cooperation on higher education between Queensland and China. QUT's delegates also expressed their hope to cooperate with GDUFS on exchange programs and scientific research. Associate Director General Camm said he hopes to make contribution to the cooperation between GDUFS and Australian colleges and universities.

After the meeting with President Zhong, Associate Director General Camm visited MBA Education Center and met with its Associate Dean Ma Shaozhuang, who will visit UQ in the near future.
