The Fifth China-South Korea International Seminar On Investment Environments

The Fifth China-South Korea International Seminar on Investment Environments, jointly held on November 30th by GDUFS and Dae Jin University, was judged a success. The seminar has made significant contributions to the cooperation between Foshan city and Pochen-si. The theme focused on China-South Korea Free Trade this year.

 

Introducing the meeting, GDUFS Vice President HE Chuantian welcomed the Korean representatives warmly. In return, Soo Sung Kyu, the leader of Korean representatives, presented brief welcoming remarks to express their expectations for the seminar, noting that they hoped that, through the conference, some trade challenges between the two countries could be resolved. Then, the two teams presented gifts to each other and gathered for a relaxing tea break.

Later, the most essential part came when professors had constructive talks about their opinions on China-South Korea Free Trade. GDUFS professors, XIAO Yaofei, member of Guangdong International Strategies Institution, and LIANG Lijun, one of the seminar participants, both analyzed the long-term benefits of China-South Korea FTA, which include boosting both economies. However, as the circumstances not always go smoothly, they  pointed out historic and current barriers from citing current international and domestic conditions, but still demonstrated a strong belief on the bright side. In addition, Soo Sung Kyu and Jung Sae,Lee, speakers from Korean representatives, cited the Korean government is paying more attention to how South Korea deals with FTA .One of the ways they mentioned to improve things was to develop advanced agriculture and textile industry projects. The discussion lasted for three hours and led to satisfying results.

The seminar made it clear why China-South Korea Free Trade Agreement needs to be developed and how it should develop, which will be very helpful for both governments to generate the economic strategies between China and South Korea in the future.
